August 22, 2008:
Steph and I are the type that like to name our creatures only after they've been hatched. Our daughter was born with a face full of dignity, curiosity, and courage, and one name just stuck, was emitted from our mouths most readily, and performed a Michael Phelps on all the other names we were considering. That said, out of love and admiration, we hope you'll understand why we were inspired to name our daughter Amelia Marie Schuh.

Amelia's memory lives on in so many lovely ways. ♥

Fundraising [Wednesday
February 7th, 2007 at 10:57am]
Hey all. Jeanne (lphybrid) asked me to post this message:

Jeanne, one of Amelia's long-time friends, and Jeanne's mother, Marcia, have just started training to walk half of the San Diego Rock n Roll Marathon on June 3rd in honor of Amelia and all others who have fought cancers. Both are seeking to raise a combined total of $5900 and would love if Amelia's LJ friends could help out!

Please help Jeanne and her mom reach their fundraising goals as they join the Leukemia and Lymphona Society's Team in Training program to help find a cure for blood cancers by clicking the link below:
Jeanne's Page: http://www.active.com/donate/tntgla/tntglaJHart1
Marcia's Page: http://www.active.com/donate/tntor/tntorMHart

75% of Team in Training fundraising goes STRAIGHT to research new drugs/treatments, and STRAIGHT into the hands of blood cancer patients. All donations are tax deductable so make sure to keep your receipt! The goal is to make a combined $5900, but we're hoping to get much much more. Every little bit helps!! Please pass this news to anyone you feel would be interested in helping this great cause.

Also, Jeanne let me know that Amelia's mom's partner's stepmom (there's a good string of possessives for you) is also participating. I don't have a link to her page, but if I find it, I'll add it to this post.

In other Leukemia and Lymphoma Society fundraising news:

For those of you in the Eugene area, the UofO Asian Pacific American Student Union is holding a fashion show/date auction in the EMU on 2/11 to raise money from 6-9pm.

I don't know what all is going to be involved, having gathered all this info from a poster, but it's definitely a good cause, so y'all should consider stopping by.

While I'm at it, a link about the L&L Society's Light the Night walk. Which is, to my understanding, like Relay for Life only Leukemia and Lymphoma specific.

Speaking of which, I should mention that the Eugene/Springfield Relay For Life has, to my understanding, started their annual fundraising drive. The dates for the Relay itself are July 27-28, 2007.

I don't think it's too late to form a team for either of those last two events, so I encourage you all to get involved with that if you are so inclined.

So there are a few ways (with various levels of involvement and commitment)you can help fight a really nasty disease and make your karma twinkle. (See usericon to see how great you'll feel doing good)

Today would be Amelia's 23rd birthday. In honor, I give you:

Also, Amelia's mother Patricia is going through a tough time, healthwise, and I'd (Susie) be thankful if you kept her in your thoughts.

Gerlinger Lounge is in Gerlinger Hall, which resides on UofO campus at 1468 University Street. When you enter Gerlinger through the main doors (the ones facing University St), there will be some stairs directly in front of you. Go up those and you will have no choice but to enter Gerlinger Lounge.

There is a campus map here

The best way to get to it is to go along 18th Ave. until you hit University. Since it's the weekend, there should be plenty of parking around McArthur Court and along 18th.

Hope that helps those of you coming from out of town.

Another Quick Note [Thursday
November 30th, 2006 at 1:38pm]
Everyone attending the Eugene Celebration is encouraged to bring pictures they might have of Amelia and other people. Several people have mentioned that they wish they had pictures of Amelia or pictures of Amelia and themselves. I'm rounding up pictures that Amelia's taken of herself and other folks, but if anyone else has some those would be totally welcome too.

I'm not asking that you give up your only copy of a picture, but if you have an extra copy or want to get an extra copy and bring it along, I'm planning to have a table where they're set out and people can lay claim on them. (which, if you're coming and have a clipboard in your possession, would you comment? Because I'm going to need one or two for people to write their claims on)

Though if you do have singular copies and trust me not to lose them, feel free to bring them with your name and address on the back and I'll scan them onto a computer and then send them back to you.

If you think you want a picture, I am pulling a lot of them (if not most of them) from her photobucket, so if you want to skip the middlewoman, you could go straight there. There are also a lot of lovely pictures of Amelia alone there. All I ask is that if you take a picture from her photobucket for something other than personal use, be sure to credit her as photographer if it's something she took.
